FAQs About Our Data Processing Practices

See below for frequently asked questions about how Statusphere processes data to facilitate and automate brand influencer logistics.

What is Statusphere?
Statusphere is an influencer marketing platform that helps brands connect with micro-influencers: social media creators with smaller but highly engaged followers.

At our core, Statusphere runs a selected network of vetted micro and nano creators. Statusphere recruits and onboards creators directly, collecting hundreds of first-party data points from each creator to power our brand-creator matching process. When a brand signs up, Statusphere taps into its existing network to find creators whose style and audience fit the brand's goals.

Our platform handles everything from creator matching and campaign logistics to product shipping and creator payments.
What Data Is Being Shared?
From Brand Clients. Brands do not provide Statusphere with personal data about their own consumers or creators they may work with separately. ‘Brand Personal Data’ refers to basic contact and account information for the brand’s employees or contractors who use the platform (e.g., name, job title, email, phone number) and information about how those team members interact with the platform. Beyond that, brands primarily share business information like product details, marketing goals, and campaign preferences which are typically not personal data, but instead business confidential information. This data is used to operate the account, provide support, security, and product improvement, and is handled in accordance with Statusphere’s privacy practices and contractual terms, with appropriate safeguards.

About Creators. Statusphere collects and maintains personal data about the creators in its network (“Creator Data”). This includes names and contact details, social media account information (including social handles and content), self-reported profile details and preferences, audience and content analytics, and payment details. Statusphere uses Creator Data to match creators with brands, administer campaigns, manage creator rewards and earnings, and improve our network and services. This Creator Data supports Statusphere's entire influencer network and is used across all brand engagements, rather than on behalf of any single brand. We built Statusphere for creators just as much as we built it for brands!
What Data Isn’t Being Shared?
Brand Consumer or Audience Data. Statusphere does not collect personal data from brands about end consumers or social media audiences. Any campaign performance data collected and shared with brands is aggregated or de-identified.

Direct Brand-to-Creator Data. By default, Statusphere acts as an intermediary between brands and creators. Brands receive limited information about matched creators (like a creator's name and public profile) but do not receive the underlying personal data from Statusphere's creator profiles. If any issues arise, our team manages communication with the creator to reach a resolution.
Is Statusphere a Controller or Processor of Personal Data?
Statusphere is generally a data controller (not a processor) when it comes to the personal data it handles.

While a "processor" handles personal data on someone else's behalf pursuant to their instructions, a "controller" decides why and how data is used. Statusphere fits the controller role because we independently decide how to collect, maintain, and use Brand Personal Data to facilitate our contractual relationship with the brand and maintain our services, as well as Creator Data so we can provide our creator-campaign matching service across all of our clients.

Because we typically act as an independent controller, our standard services generally do not require a Data Processing Agreement. Where we process personal data as a processor under applicable law, we will enter into appropriate data processing terms upon request.
Does This Mean Brand Data is Not Kept Confidential?
No! As explained above, most data we receive from brands is not personal data, but rather business confidential information. Statusphere commits to keeping each brand’s confidential information safe and secure in Section 5 (Confidentiality Obligations) of our Terms and Conditions.
